Raiders of the Lost Ark
From the creators of Star Wars and Jaws, we have a brand new adventure. This time, however, we're not chasing a killer show or trying to take down an evil organization. The adventure is a search for ancient history. Let's see how this plays out.
The movie begins with a group of men on their way to an ancient temple. They're guiding our hero, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), to the temple so he can find the treasure located deep inside. Once they arrive, he goes in with one of the people that brought him. They work their way through all the booby traps until they reach the treasure. Jones replaces the golden statue with a bag of sand, but this springs a new trap that makes a giant boulder chase after him. After running for a while, the man he came with betrays him and takes the statue for himself, which Jones eventually gets back. After escaping, he's trapped and forced to give the statue to his rival colleague. He then escapes the island where he returns back to his job as a college professor. After class, the dean informs him that the government wants him to go after the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis get it.
The adventure aspects of the movie were amazing. It never really felt like it was replacing adventure with a bit of romance for one scene or anything else. As for the action, Jones proves to be a dirty fighter. He doesn't stick to being a fair or noble fighter. He'll use dirty tactics to win in any situation.
There's not really a whole lot I can say bad about the movie. If I were to be nitpicky, it would be that the love interest doesn't really seem to go anywhere. Yeah, she's there, but she doesn't do much.
So should you watch Raiders of the Lost Ark? Certainly. This is the very definition of an adventure movie full of moments to be remembered for generations to come.
